Home » Kenwood Here2Anywhere Sirius Satellite Radio Review
The Kenwood Here2Anywhere (H2A) was the first Plug-and-Play Sirius released. At the time, it offered many features the other Sirius products did not have. Now, though, much better equipment is available and the Here2Anywhere seems like the red-headed stepchild of the group. Many people who have owned it for more than six months are mentioning problems in the display burning out. Nevertheless, there are those who want it, so here is a full review for the Kenwood Here2Anywhere. I owned the Here2Anywhere for about four months before moving on the Audiovox PNP2 for the larger display and for the many additional features. Display & buttons The display is the smallest for a PNP, but it does offer all the information that the other Plug-and-Plays have. Unlike the others, title and artist are on the same line, and not separate ones. When searching via category for channels, the text is VERY small and hard to read. A positive side of having the receiver shaped this way is that it is easy to fit it in long but thin compartments in the car. The button layout is OK. I do not like the fact that the channel number cannot be directly entered unless you use the remote. They all have a firm feel, and you can tell when you press the button. Bugs The very first run of Here2Anywhere receivers (likely all sold out in the stores but might be lurking on eBay) had several bugs in the product, no auto-on, and the right arrow button was hard to work. All these problems were corrected in a revised version. The only way to tell the difference is the packaging inside the box is cardboard for the early version, and molded plastic for the second. The Kenwood Here2Anywhere includes 3 brightness settings for the display, and a 24 song memory. Newer models include a full-function clock with sleep timer, and the memory is now SongSeek, where it will alert you if a song in the memory is playing. If there is a blue circle on the packaging of the receiver, that means it is the newer version. There has been a reported problem with the alarm clock not functioning properly, so I would not set it. This unit is probably the best at being an office receiver. Conservative looking enough so it does not attract attention, yet professional looking and stylish. Summary While I may seem harsh in this review, this is a decent unit if you do not over work it. If you can though, I would go for a different Sirius Plug-and-Play, such as the Clarion, due to its small size. User Reviews Submitted by: KTMC Here are the things I like about the Here2Anywhere. It iss built quite solidly and is very durable. The sound quality is very pleasent -- attach it to a good set of speakers you will be a rocking. I like the push button features for scrolling between channels and catagories. There are some things that I don't like. If this unit is left on for an hour or more, it will put out some serious heat (not too hot to handle, though). There is no boombox feature. The remote sensor isnt as sensitive as it should be. You almost need to have the remote control on top of the unit for it to work. Do you own this radio? Please share your opinion and write a review. |
