See something related to satellite radio, XM, or Sirius, and don't know what it means? Here is a list with definitions for many
different terms.
- ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit)
The amount of money per month each subscriber brings XM or Sirius.
- Aux input
Short for an Auxilliary input/RCA input.
- CPGA (Cost Per Gross Acquistion)
This is the cost to get a subscriber (see SAC), along with any marketing costs involved.
- Drop out
When the signal cuts out due to an obstruction between the satellite and your antenna.
- FM modulator
A device that sends the audio signal from your Sirius or XM equipment to your FM radio.
- H2A
The Kenwood Here2Anywhere, a Plug and Play for Sirius.
- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
Radios that are provided stock with your car, and may have XM or Sirius built in.
- PNP (Plug-and-Play)
The most popular style of receiver. The equipment slides in and out of holders and can be moved from car to
home or office very easily. The advantage being only one subscription is needed.
- PNP2
Refers to a specific receiver model, the Audiovox SIRPNP2.
- Rear Shelf
The little "deck" behind the backseat of a sedan or coupe.
- SAC (Subscriber Acquisition Costs)
This is the cost for XM or Sirius to add a subscriber to their service.
- S-Seek
Short for SongSeek, the memory feature on Sirius Plug-and-Plays that will alert you if your song is playing.
- Sub
Short for subscription.
- Sub count
The number of subscribers Sirius or XM has.
