Tips for giving your install the clean look, with little hassle.

So you have your satellite radio, but you don't want those wires hanging out all over the dash? Here are several tips to help you hide all those wires, without needing much car knowledge to do.

Here is what the easiest hidden installation will look like when it is finished:

The way to easily hide the wires is to remove some of the dash paneling, and run the wires behind them instead of in front of them. To find out how to do this for your car(usually very easy, but varies in method depending on the type of car), search the web for a message board about your car. For example, I use Maxima.org for my Nissan Maxima.

The closest way to get behind the dash where I mounted the receiver in my car is through the glove compartment. I routed the three wires that come with the Plug and Play(power, audio, and the antenna) through the paneling. The main thing to remember is to start with the 'other' end of the wire, the one not connected to the Plug and Play, and work your way back. While the power wire and the audio wire should be easy to run, the antenna wire will be more complicated, so I detailed it here:

The Antenna

The antenna wire will be the hardest to get to your radio, especially if it is mounted on the roof. Start by mounting the antenna or the tail it has flush to the rear windshield on the roof. place the wire in the molding that holds the windshield in place, and run it down to the trunk. If there is a space in the molding that is exposed, use that. If not, lift up the molding holding the window in place, and you will see a crevice to run the wire down to the trunk.

Once you are at the trunk, open the trunk, and lift up on the rubber running around the shell:

Run the wire into the trunk, and through to below the back seat. From there, you may have to remove paneling/lift up small areas of carpet to make your way to the front. I recommend going to a website for your car if you do not know how to do this so you get the best results. Look for how to run the wires for a CD changer to the radio, and run your antenna the same way.
